Dear Retiring AFA Member,

Congratulations on your retirement. As you retire from your years on
the line, you leave a legacy of progress in the flight attendant
profession. With the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, we won
the right to be married, have a family and continue to fly. We
challenged and defeated discriminatory practices which limited our
rights and tenure as flight attendants. You helped build this union
and we hope you will remain active with AFA in your retirement.
As an AFA retiree, you retain access to a number of benefits listed
on the AFA website.
• Union Privilege program
• Automatic membership in the 2.7 million member Alliance for
Retired Americans, which is made up of retirees from AFL-CIO
affiliated unions. It seeks to ensure social and economic justice
for retirees by encouraging them to remain active politically and in
their communities. To find out more about the Alliance, visit
www.retiredamericans.org
.
• Access to a special pension section of AFA’s retiree website which
covers the kinds of questions our members have raised.
• Do you like politics? Stay involved in AFA’s legislative
activities by sending an e-mail to AFA’s Director of Government
Affairs, Shane Larson, at
slarson@afanet.org .
• Want to continue your work as an EAP volunteer? Contact AFA’s EAP
