Flight Attendant Union Applauds AFGE and TSA On First Labor
Agreement
Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA)
today commended the American Federation of Government Employees
(AFGE) on reaching their first labor agreement with the
Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The agreement
covers 45,000 Transportation Security Officers (TSO).
“We congratulate our allies in aviation security on achieving an
historic first contract that secures their rights and improves
working conditions. As aviation’s first responders, Flight
Attendants depend on the professionalism and expertise of our
nation’s Transportation Security Officers every day. It is
important that TSOs have a strong voice at work to help promote
the best conditions for security of air travel.
“For years, TSOs across the country fought for the right to have
basic workplace protections provided through a legally-binding
contract. AFGE never wavered in their support for these
dedicated professionals in order to secure collective bargaining
rights though strong union representation.”
“We praise both AFGE and TSA for their continued dedication to
making our skies safer and to our nation’s transportation
infrastructure,” said AFA International President Veda Shook.
AFGE is AFA’s sister affiliate through the AFL-CIO.
The Association of Flight Attendants is the world’s largest
