Flight Attendant Union Looks Forward To Continuing To Advance
Profession With Obama Administration
Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA)
today issued the following statement after the re-election of
President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden:
“As the world’s largest Flight Attendant union, our focus
remains on improving the future of our profession. Under
President Obama’s first four years in office, we made great
strides and secured many improvements for the tens of thousands
of Flight Attendants across the country.
“We look forward to another four years of working with the Obama
administration on ensuring that our nation’s aviation system
remains the best in the world. Alongside appointments to the
U.S. Department of Transportation and its Federal Aviation
Administration, the National Mediation Board, the Department of
Homeland Security and the National Transportation Safety Board,
we will continue to enhance the safety of the traveling public.
Additionally, we will continue to press for the ability of
workers to have a voice through union representation.
“As we move forward on improving the future for Flight
Attendants and working families, it is imperative that the Lame
Duck Session of Congress continues to move us forward as a
nation, not back. We must continue to remain focused on
rebuilding our economy, for ourselves and tomorrow’s generation.
We simply cannot allow social programs to be taken to the
chopping block or increased tax cuts for the wealthiest two
percent of Americans.
“While this election season was tough, our democratic process
helps us to identify our differences as well as our common
ground. This is a critical time to hold our elected officials
accountable for actively defending working families. We look
forward to working with our newly-elected representatives on
Capitol Hill and continuing our important work for Flight
Attendants.”
The Association of Flight Attendants is the world’s largest
Flight Attendant union. Focused 100 percent on Flight Attendant
issues, AFA has been the leader in advancing the Flight
Attendant profession for 67 years. Serving as the voice for
Flight Attendants in the workplace, in the aviation industry, in
the media and on Capitol Hill, AFA has transformed the Flight
Attendant profession by raising wages, benefits and working
conditions. Nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants come together to
form AFA, part of the 700,000-member strong Communications
Workers of America (CWA), AFL-CIO. Visit us at
