Problems getting AFA-CWA E-Mail newsletters?
With the advent of AOL 9.0 came "Mail Controls" in response to an alarming amount of  Spam (unsolicited email) being sent to AOL members. With Mail Controls, AOL members can block emails from other AOL members, from certain domains, or even block all emails.

If these "allow or not allow" rules are set up, members signing up for AFA-CWA E-Activist and E-news may block the receipt of the e-newsletter. Fortunately, there is an easy fix: add the following domains to your "allow list".

ADD: afanet.org
ADD: getactive.com

Please view this flash animated tutorial to show you how to make these changes. You can also go to AOL keyword: mailcontrols to reach the Mail Controls set up screen.

Have you been unsubscribed?
We've received many notices from AOL users asking why they have been unsubscribed from AFA-CWA E-Activist and E-News. Here's what's happening:

Our messages are sent out through a company called GetActive software. GetActive has a "whitelist" agreement with AOL stating that messages sent via GetActive are not unsolicited SPAM. This agreement ensures that our messages will not be delivered to a "bulk Email" or "Spam folder".

As you can see from the screenshot below, the Report Spam and the Delete buttons are right next to each other. If a member accidentally hits the Report Spam button, they will automatically be unsubscribed from AFA-CWA E-Activist and E-News. This is required per the agreement between GetActive and AOL. See the solution below

Solution:

There is an easy solution. In the unsubscribe email that you received, simply follow the link to go to the AFA-CWA web site, click on the E-newsletter link, and sign yourself back up. You'll only need to enter your email address as your previous info will still be in the system. Here's a direct link to the sign-up page.

If you're prompted for a password after signing up again, click on the "forgot your password" link and a password will be generated and emailed to you. You can change the password once you're logged in.
