AFA Supports A Union Voice For American Airlines Passenger
Service Agents As CWA Election Begins
Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA)
issued the following statement of support today as a
Communications Workers of America (CWA) representation election
begins for 9,700 passenger service agents at American Airlines:
“AFA knows first hand how a strong voice during the bankruptcy
process can greatly benefit workers. Over the past year, there
has been much change at American Airlines. However, through CWA
representation, Passenger Service Agents will play an integral
role in the rebuilding of their airline.
“No one knows better than front line workers what is necessary
for success and, through their union, American Airlines
Passenger Service agents will contribute greatly to the
viability of the airline. With the benefit of a legally binding
contract and valuable protections, Passenger Service Agents will
be able to safeguard their jobs, benefits and futures, and stop
the outsourcing that has been occurring across the system.
“We congratulate our sisters and brothers on their determination
for CWA representation and stand with them for a better future
at American Airlines.”
The election will conclude on January 15, 2013.
The Association of Flight Attendants is the world’s largest
Flight Attendant union. Focused 100 percent on Flight Attendant

Attendant profession for 67 years. Serving as the voice for
Flight Attendants in the workplace, in the aviation industry, in
the media and on Capitol Hill, AFA has transformed the Flight
Attendant profession by raising wages, benefits and working
